Lockton, the world's largest privately-owned independent insurance broker, has announced the appointment of Simon Jesson (pictured) as the new business development manager for its commercial wholesale team in Manchester.
With over 20 years of commercial broking experience, Jesson will be responsible for developing new business as Lockton aims to increase its clientele in the UK.
During his time there, Jesson grew fees and commissions by 15% year-on-year.
Commenting on his appointment, Jesson said, "Having watched the business from afar over the last few years, I am excited to be re-joining Lockton's commercial wholesale team in Manchester. The division's growth has been impressive to witness. I'm looking forward to getting stuck in and having the opportunity to work with some of the most skilled brokers and agents in the sector."
The appointment comes on the back of a strong year of growth for Lockton's commercial wholesale team, which has doubled its headcount and seen year-on-year revenue growth exceeding 35% in the last three years.
David Lee, SVP, head of UK Lockton commercial wholesale, welcomed Jesson's arrival, saying, "Simon brings a wealth of experience to our growing team, and we are thrilled to welcome him back to our Manchester office. We know his skills will be invaluable for us as we continue to support our network of agents navigating an increasingly complex risk landscape, whilst continuing to execute our growth trajectory."
Lockton was recently named as one of the UK's top 50 best large companies to work for in 2022, according to the Sunday Times' annual "Best Companies" survey.
The same survey ranked Lockton as one of the insurance sector's top five best companies to work for. Lockton was given a Three Star Accreditation, the highest rating, representing "world-class levels of workplace engagement" with its associates.
