Lockton Ireland has welcomed Stephanie Zambra (pictured above), renowned striker for Ireland and Shamrock Rovers, into her new role as brand ambassador for the privately-owned brokerage.
Zambra is a prominent figure in women’s sports and recently immersed herself in media work for RTE during the World Cup in Australia. Her meteoric rise to fame traces back to her remarkable goal in 2013, earning her a nomination for FIFA Goal of the Year. The achievement placed her among the ranks of soccer legends like Lionel Messi and Cristiano Ronaldo at the 2014 FIFA Ballon D’or Awards. Notably, she was also the first woman ever to secure a top three nomination in that category, ultimately finishing as the runner-up with an astounding 1.2 million votes.
Her football journey has taken her across England, America, and Italy. With over 50 appearances for Ireland and her current engagement with Shamrock Rovers Ladies in the League of Ireland, Stephanie remains a prominent figure in the sport. Additionally, she spearheads coaching academies for aspiring young footballers nationwide, fostering their football skills.
While her famous goal catapulted Zambra to global recognition, it also served as a catalyst for an upsurge of interest in the Irish game and women’s sports within Ireland. She has been at the forefront of advocating for improved standards and working conditions for the Ireland Ladies Team since 2017. Over the past decade, she has been a trailblazer in women’s football, contributing significantly to the exponential growth of the women’s game in both popularity and quality.
During the launch of her role as a brand ambassador, Lockton affirmed that Zambra would play a vital part in commemorating Lockton Ireland’s major milestones in the upcoming months.
“I am delighted to represent Lockton as its brand ambassador,” Zambra said. “As a privately owned, family run company, Lockton has an extremely strong work ethic as well as providing equal opportunities for all of their staff. Their clear commitment to enhancing the profile of women in sport and business is a matter that is close to my heart. As a society, we have made significant progress in recent years, but there is still a long way to go to break down the barriers which hinder access for women. Lockton has invested significantly in understanding and overcoming those barriers, so I look forward to working together.”
Lockton chairman and partner Gary Ennis also said that Zambra’s ambassadorship embodied the family values and strong work ethic of the company.
“Lockton is proud to be a privately owned global company based on family values and a strong work ethic,” Ennis said. “Since we first met her, Stephanie has embodied those same values and there is already fantastic synergy with our team. Throughout her career Stephanie has worked tirelessly to be the best at what she does, she has consistently shown that the team comes first and has inspired those around her. These are all qualities that resonate with Lockton. Lockton is also fully committed to being part of our local community and again this sits well with Stephanie and her own soccer camps and community work.”
Recently, the reinsurance arm of Lockton also announced the launch of its global mortgage and structured credit segment, which will be co-led by Sean Hannah and Joe Koebele.
