Chartered Insurance Institute associate David Spence has been added to Lockton’s roster in Aberdeen.

Aimed at expanding the firm’s customer base in the North East of Scotland, the account executive appointment will leverage Spence’s more than 16 years of corporate insurance broking experience. His credentials include a 12-year stint at Carmichael & Partners before it was snapped up by PIB Insurance Brokers.

“Having worked for the majority of my working life in privately owned businesses, I was drawn to Lockton and the fact that they are uncommonly independent,” said Spence of the largest privately held independent insurance broker in the world.

“This appealed to me a great deal and I believe it will enable me to flourish in the next stage of my career. Lockton’s pan-European and global operations provide an excellent way for me to grow and support my existing network.”

The key recruit will focus on growing the business across a wide range of sectors such as oil & gas/energy, transportation, construction & real estate, engineering, and food & drink.

Commenting on the development, Lockton Aberdeen’s head of office Steven Cox called it “an exciting time” for Spence to come onboard.

“Due to the unprecedented and phenomenal growth of our business to date, attracting top quality talent is a key to our investment strategy,” he said. “David naturally forms part of this and we will be announcing further plans in the New Year.”
