The Lloyd’s Market Association (LMA) has strengthened its claims committee with the addition of six senior executives from major insurance firms.

Joining the LMA panel are Nick Sinfield, group head of claims at Tokio Marine Kiln; Sheel Sawhney, group head of claims at Brit; and David Miller, chief claims officer for the international and London market at XL Catlin.

Hiscox London market claims head Tony Rai and MS Amlin head of claims Simon Catt have also been elected to the LMA committee. Simon White, head of claims at Apollo Syndicate Management Limited, has been reappointed to the panel as well.

All six executives started on their new roles on January 31. They will each have a two-year term at the LMA claims committee, which provides leadership and direction to the Lloyd’s claims community and advises the trade body’s board on strategic claims matters.

“The LMACC will continue to promote the position of claims in the London market whilst creating opportunities to enhance the Lloyd’s claims offering and provide service excellence,” said Lee Elliston, claims and delegated authority operations manager at LMA.

For this year and 2018, the LMA claims committee will assess the potential benefits that predictive analytics and robotics could offer to claims handling and adjustment in terms of cost reductions, service improvements and other efficiency gains.

It will also work on an initiative that could support a reduction in the number of London agreement parties for low value claims where carriers participate.
