Lloyd’s of London has lost its emerging risks and research manager to Sciemus, the specialist provider of risk modelling and analytics to insurance and reinsurance markets.
Nick Beecroft has joined the London-based analytics firm as director for product innovation and strategy. He will be helping with business development initiatives and the creation of new products and markets around emerging risks.
Sciemus CEO Rick Welsh said Beecroft’s appointment is part of a strategy to combine advanced modelling with a deeper understanding of emerging risks, allowing re/insurers to diversify their investment portfolios.
“Sciemus has always been an innovator when it comes to using sophisticated methodologies, combined with data, to model and quantify risk, and Nick’s understanding of emerging risks will allow us to move to the next level,” Welsh said.
“Nick’s background gives him the unique ability to be an effective bridge between cognition of emerging risk and the disciplines required to model and underwrite that risk,” he added.
Before joining Lloyd’s, Beecroft served as project manager at Catlin and as intelligence officer for the Royal Air Force for 12 years.
Beecroft was also a graduate trainee and business development analyst at Lloyd’s from 1998 to 2000.
