Liberty Specialty Markets (LSM) has created a new global role – and it believes it has the right man to take on its new responsibilities.
The firm has promoted Andrew Beechey to the role of head of underwriting and strategic development for global financial risks. Beechey, who has been with LSM since 2014, brings with him a wealth of experience that includes a nine-year tenure with
Zurich and a 10-year stint at
Marsh in the credit and political risk division across both the UK and the US.
Currently based in Singapore, and working as LSM’s head of global financial risks for the Asia Pacific region, Beechey will return to London on December 01 to take on the new role and report to Peter Sprent, head of global financial risks, who believes the current climate calls for this new position.
“In this era of relatively volatile and unpredictable economic conditions, it’s clear there is significant demand for credit and political risk insurance from organisations that are active in the emerging and developed markets,” he said. “Our GFR book has performed extremely well over the last few years and we’ve been able to establish ourselves as a major player in the global market.
“Andrew has done a fantastic job setting up GFR in Singapore and growing that business into a market leading position over the last few years. His promotion and move to London come as part of the overall expansion of our GFR team and the continued growth in our global business.”
It is expected that a new appointment will be made soon in the Asia Pacific region to replace Beechey.
