Vincent Gilardi (pictured) has been appointed as senior underwriter for international casualty at Liberty Mutual Re (LM Re).
Effective immediately, Paris-based Gilardi will be in charge of business from Southern Europe and the broader Mediterranean region, including Israel. His remit does not cover Spanish and Portuguese reinsurance policies, as those will continue to be underwritten from LM Re’s office in Madrid.
“Having Vincent join our Paris team shows our ability to continue to attract high-performing underwriters while reinforcing Liberty Mutual Re’s strategy to build its global footprint,” said Eric Sugier, general manager for LM Re France and head of Middle East and North Africa.
Meanwhile, according to the reinsurer’s announcement, Gilardi will also be particularly focussed on Italy where LM Re opened a new office in 2018. There he will support the firm’s offering, working with Milan-based general manager for reinsurance Massimiliano Fantini.

Gilardi, whose experience includes time spent at AXIS Capital and Partner Re, was casualty senior underwriter & market lead for XL Catlin in Paris prior to joining the Liberty Mutual Insurance Group unit.
