Lancashire Holdings has made two key appointments to its senior leadership team.
The group has appointed Hayley Johnston as chief executive officer of Lancashire Insurance Company Limited (LICL), succeeding the retiring Elaine Whelan. Meanwhile, James Flude will move into Johnston’s previous role as chief underwriting officer of Lancashire Insurance Company (UK) Limited (LUK), the group’s UK regulated insurer.
Both appointments are subject to all relevant regulatory and governance approvals.
Johnston is an industry veteran and has extensive experience in the London and international insurance and reinsurance markets. She joined Lancashire in 2007 as a marine and aviation underwriter and outwards reinsurance manager and has subsequently progressed through the group before being appointed chief underwriting officer of LUK in 2014.
Meanwhile, Flude joined Lancashire in 2014 as head of marine and energy underwriting and assumed the role of deputy chief underwriting officer of LUK in 2017.
“I am delighted to see Hayley and James succeed to these senior roles within our group,” said Alex Maloney, group chief executive officer of Lancashire Holdings. “Both are longstanding colleagues and valued members of our management team, and each one will bring fresh perspectives and strategic vision to their new roles.”
Maloney also thanked the outgoing Whelan for her “dedication and contribution to our success over many years.”
