Ki, the first fully digital Lloyd’s syndicate, has appointed Catherine Barton as commercial director. In this new role, Barton will oversee the syndicate’s financial performance, develop its strategic partnerships, and work closely with management to deliver on its commercial strategy and growth initiatives.
Barton joins the company from Zego, where she held the role of chief insurance officer. Prior to this, she was the chief financial officer at Talbot Underwriting Limited. She also held senior executive management roles at Bupa UK and was a partner at both EY and Deloitte.
According to her LinkedIn, Barton is a graduate of the University of Oxford and a fellow of the Institute of Actuaries. She has also served as a non-executive director at Sabre Insurance Group between 2017 and 2021.
In a news release, Ki CEO Mark Allan said that Barton brings with her impressive experience in both insurance and financial leadership roles.
“Having established meaningful scale through our digital and data-led model, we now are focused on the next stage of growth and development for Ki. Catherine will be a strong addition to our management team as we look to further expand our underwriting footprint, optimise our portfolio and deepen relationships with new and existing trading partners,” Allan said.
