The defendant insurance business of Sintons is now under the Keoghs umbrella.
Without disclosing the financial terms of the transaction, Keoghs said it has launched a Newcastle office to house the acquired unit which is led by Jamie McCabe.
“We are delighted to welcome the team to Keoghs and particularly pleased to open in Newcastle, a vibrant city with a strong insurance presence,” commented Keoghs chief executive John Whittle.
“The UK defendant insurance market is consolidating, and we make no secret of our desire to continue to drive consolidation and cement our position as the undisputed pre-eminent provider of legal services in this space.”
Whittle is of the view that the roster headed by McCabe adds “even further depth” to what the CEO described as Keoghs’ already leading large and catastrophic loss capability.
Sintons managing partner Mark Quigley, meanwhile, lifted the lid on the sale.
“As a firm, we are proud of the national reputation we have gained in this very specialist area,” he stated.
“However, this is just one part of our business and we believe that our employees, and our defendant insurance clients, will benefit from being part of a firm whose entire focus is on delivering legal services to the insurance industry.”
According to Quigley, the deal will enable Sintons to focus on the continued growth of its private client and commercial offering as well as investing further in the delivery of specialist services to clients with life-changing injuries.
