Kennedys opens new office in Leeds

Global law firm Kennedys is opening an office in Leeds – securing its 12th location in the UK, and its 42nd globally.

The new office location was made possible following Kennedys acquisition of the insurance team of law firm Langleys.

Kennedys’ new office will be led by former Langleys managing partner and head of insurance David Thompson. He will be joined by partners Huw Edwards, Laura Collins and Carol Dalton, as well as 32 team heads and staff from Langleys’ former insurance team.

• Thompson has expertise in handling large loss claims, complex employers’ liability claims, high value product liability claims and advising on policy and interpretation issues. He has represented major insurers, Lloyd’s syndicates, and large corporations.
• Edwards advises on motor liability and regulatory matters, and has dealt with various motor claims including fatal accident and catastrophic injury claims. He is regularly instructed by insurers to act for clients when it comes to health and safety prosecutions and police investigations resulting from major incidents.
• Collins manages a team that offers pre-litigated claims handling services to insurers and self-retained corporations. Her team specialises in liability and first-party claims of unlimited value arising out of multiple jurisdictions. Collins also handles catastrophic and large loss litigated claims for several insurers.
• Dalton advises insurers, corporates, and public sector organisations in relation to employers’ and public liability matters, as well as property damage claims. She has expertise in handling complex claims involving abuse and stress in the workplace.

With the former insurance team of Langleys switching over to Kennedys, their clients can now access Kennedys’ national and global network of legal expertise, which spans all lines of commercial and personal lines insurance, a release said.
