JM Glendinning North Yorkshire, a division of the JMG Group, has completed the acquisition of C P Bennet Ltd, an established insurance broker specialising in commercial and personal lines.
The Scarborough-based JM Glendinning North Yorkshire, under the leadership of managing director Alison Piercy (pictured above, left), made this acquisition shortly after relocating to larger premises to support its growth strategy.
Simon Benson (pictured above, right), the managing director of C P Bennet Ltd, will be transitioning to JM Glendinning’s office in Wykeham, Scarborough.
C P Bennet Ltd, founded in 1929 by Charles Percy Bennet, is well-known in Bridlington’s insurance market. Benson, who joined the firm in 1986 to work alongside his father Albert Benson, has played a key role in the company’s development over the past 38 years. The elder Benson, meanwhile, who became a director in 1970, continued in this role until 2013.
Piercy commented on the acquisition, noting that the group had been seeking a business that aligned with its operational and cultural values and delivered quality customer support.
She believes that C P Bennet Ltd is a suitable match for their business and looks forward to integrating the company into their operations.
Benson also stated that the sale of C P Bennet Ltd is part of a broader succession plan aimed at ensuring a smooth transition for both employees and clients. He noted that joining the JMG Group, while offering significant growth opportunities, would allow them to continue the legacy built by his father and their team.
Despite its rapid expansion, Benson also emphasised that the JMG Group has maintained a family-run atmosphere and a client-first approach, which he looks forward to being a part of.
Back in July, the company also announced a deal for Kent-based Howe Maxted.
Howe Maxted, which is run by directors Graham Smith and John Maxted has been helping clients for over a century. Although it joins the JMG Group, all the firm’s 14 staff will continue to operate from its Sidcup headquarters, headed by the existing leadership team.
