JM Glendinning Insurance Brokers has expanded its portfolio through the acquisition of Birmingham’s Madoc & Rhodes (Lea Village).
Founded in 1967, Madoc & Rhodes is led by a team of seven brokers, with managing director Paul McGrory (pictured above) at the helm. His journey with the firm began in 1985, evolving from employee to co-owner in 1997, and ultimately becoming the sole proprietor in 2008.
McGrory, who has over 37 years of experience in the insurance industry, will continue to lead the firm as it maintains its operations from the Lea Village office. The company specialises in vehicle, home, and property insurance, catering to a wide range of client needs while working in close collaboration with JM Glendinning’s Birmingham-based operations.
McGrory expressed his enthusiasm for the merger, noting the firm’s significant growth over the last 12 months.
“By joining the JMG Group, we are now stronger than ever,” McGrory said. “We are a friendly and proudly traditional team who thrive on delivering outstanding customer service. Every client is important to us, and we have a fantastic retention rate. In fact, we have 50 clients who have been with us for over 50 years – I think that makes us unique!”
McGrory also revealed that the timing of the acquisition aligned perfectly with his personal career plans, offering him a renewed focus on direct client engagement and team development.
Jake Fox, group managing director at JM Glendinning, shared his perspective on the acquisition, highlighting the synergy between the two entities.
“This is a great opportunity for JM Glendinning and will unlock many opportunities as we build upon the existing well-known brand and quality service that’s already associated with Madoc & Rhodes,” Fox said. “As a long-standing firm in Birmingham, we believe Madoc & Rhodes will complement our established team in Birmingham, led by Chris Hitch, and add breadth to our existing base in the city and beyond. Paul’s strong, principled leadership will no doubt help continue driving growth in the business.”
In October, the brokerage’s professional risks division has also announced the appointment of David Burnhope as its new client director, focussing on professional indemnity insurance (PII) for the property industry.
