Insurance software solutions giant, Genasys has today announced the appointment of André Symes (pictured above) and Craig Olivier (pictured below) to the role of joint CEOs. The news comes as founder and current CEO, Steve Symes, steps away from day-to-day operations to become chairman with effect from today (July 01).
Symes will continue to be based in London while Olivier will remain in Johannesburg together with managing director Eugene Wessels, who will take on the newly created role of head of global operations.
Commenting on the news Steve Symes said he was “hugely proud” of how Genasys had evolved over the past 24 years, as it moved from a garage start-up to become a leading insurance system provider, and expanded its geographic footprint across the world.
“As we have expanded our geographic footprint, André and Craig have been increasingly taking the lead and setting our agenda,” he said. “It is the right time to put them in the front seat to continue to drive this wonderful company forward. André, Craig and Eugene have over 40 years of combined experience with Genasys, so I am very confident that our clients are in good hands.”
The London-headquartered firm, which also has operations in Johannesburg and Cape Town, now serves clients in 16 countries in Africa, North America, Oceania and the UK and currently manages over £1 billion in gross written premium.
“Our entry into the UK insurance market has been an exceptional success,” said says André Symes. “Our platform and ecosystem has been widely adopted by MGAs, brokers and insurers ranging from start-up businesses to major insurance providers. This has undoubtedly helped fuel interest in what we offer from significant players in the Americas. Craig and I are honoured to be taking over the baton from Steve and we are hugely excited about what the future holds for Genasys.”
Meanwhile, Olivier added that the operational centre of excellence that Genasys built in South Africa can support clients around the world, providing the company with the foundation needed to achieve its ambitions.
Olivier continued: “André and I relish the challenge of taking Genasys forward and becoming the pre-eminent provider of insurance software solutions.”
