The coronavirus pandemic has certainly altered the way we live our lives – and insurance has not been immune to the changes. However, it seems workers in the industry are wide open to this new way of working and, indeed, are ready to embrace it.
According to a Twitter poll run by the Chartered Insurance Institute (CII) and the Personal Finance Society, just 12% of insurance and financial professionals think that they will return to working the same way as prior to the global pandemic. Indeed, 17% of the 116 professionals surveyed even plan to work entirely from home once the government restrictions come to an end.
“Members of the insurance and personal finance profession have shown themselves capable of responding to a crisis which have seen the majority successfully working from home to ensure key services and support for consumers and customers is maintained,” said CII MD Keith Richards.
“The new way of working for the insurance and personal finance profession created by the coronavirus pandemic since March has shown what can be achieved when the focus is on the outcomes achieved rather than the hours someone sits in an office at a desk.
“I believe we will see a lot of employers embrace more flexibility around working from home in the future. A key conversation for senior managers at insurance and financial advice firms will be what works best to deliver the most suitable cover and financial planning for the public once government guidance to slow the spread of the coronavirus changes.”
