Westfield Specialty International, Wrisk and the City of London Police have announced senior appointments as they expand their operations and leadership teams.
Westfield Specialty International has appointed Harry Brantingham as an underwriter in its general liability team. He joins the company from AXA XL, where he held underwriting roles for nearly seven years.
Based in London, Brantingham will report to Paul Davidson, class underwriter, general liability.
“There is no doubt that the theme of 2025 for Westfield Specialty is growth, with recent hires across the business displaying our appetite to expand our underwriting capacity in both new and established books of business,” commented Ross MacDonald, divisional director of casualty and portfolio.
Wrisk has hired Christen Smith (pictured top) as director of platform sales (UK and Europe), a newly created role aimed at supporting the company’s expansion in embedded insurance solutions for automotive brands.
Smith has held leadership roles in insurtech and multinational insurance firms, including Zurich. She will report to chief operating officer Shiv Bhaduri and will divide her time between London and Munich.
“Christen matches perfectly the ‘Wrisk profile’ and will make an exceptional addition to the team,” said Bhaduri.
The City of London Police has appointed Tor Garnett (pictured right) as commander national, joining the chief officer team responsible for the national policing response to economic and cybercrime.
“Tor is a phenomenal senior leader who brings a huge amount of specialist knowledge, skills and experience,” said Commissioner Pete O’Doherty. “She will join my chief officer team at a time when our coordination as the national lead force for fraud and policing lead for cybercrime has never been more important.”
Garnett, previously a detective chief superintendent at the Metropolitan Police, has worked on serious and organized crime, including cybercrime, fraud and money laundering. She has held roles in counter-terrorism and borough command. She will report to Deputy Commissioner Nik Adams, who was appointed in December 2024.
