A swathe of regional insurance appointments has been announced, with the aim of expanding operations within Wales and Cumbria.

First off, the independent, family and employee-owned TL Dallas has hired Kelly McCartney (pictured above, left), who has relocated from Dumfries, where she previously worked for James Hallam insurance brokers.

TL Dallas, founded in 1919 and headquartered at Lakeland Business Park in Cockermouth, provides independent insurance broking and risk management services to commercial and agricultural clients. The firm’s local team has expanded rapidly since it first established a presence in Cumbria with two employees in May 2023.

The team now consists of nine members, including Emma Irving, Lynne Taylor, Philip Jackson, Heather Wood, Karen Coombe, Tracy Hickman and Anna Jones, many of whom were former colleagues before joining TL Dallas. The office also includes apprentice Talia Frazer.

The company remains a fourth-generation family business, with group managing director Polly Staveley and group director Mackenzie Dallas both being descendants of the company’s founder, Thomas Lessels Dallas OBE.

McCartney said that she appreciated the firm’s approach to delivering personal service across its 15 regional offices. These offices include Belfast, Bradford, Cumbria, Edinburgh, Elgin, Falkirk, Glasgow, Holmfirth, Inverness, Lincolnshire, London, North Yorkshire, Orkney, Shetland, and Stockport.

Howden Wales appointment

Howden has also expanded its team in Wales with the appointment of Hannah Joyce (pictured above, middle) and David Bennett (pictured above, right), who will join its regional offices.

Joyce joins Howden from Thomas Carroll and has previously held roles at Davies Craddock and NFU Mutual. In her position as account executive, she will focus on developing and maintaining relationships with commercial clients, supporting the growth of Howden’s South Wales branch.

Bennett, formerly commercial director at Cornerstone Commercial Insurance, will take on a client-facing sales and advisory role. He previously worked in senior management and operations and brings experience in sectors including leisure, property ownership, and manufacturing.
