Bridgehaven Specialty UK Limited and Apollo Syndicate Management Limited have both announced senior appointments, expanding their leadership teams with experienced industry professionals, subject to regulatory approval.
Bridgehaven has appointed Giles Taylor (pictured above) to its leadership team, effective March 3. Taylor brings over 25 years of experience in both the Lloyd’s and company markets.
He spent 16 years at Lloyd’s, where he held several senior roles focused on risk management and international regulatory matters, most recently serving as chief risk officer for Lloyd’s Europe in Brussels.
Prior to his time at Lloyd’s, Taylor worked for nine years at ACE, now Chubb, in legal and compliance roles.
Bridgehaven, a hybrid insurer focused on commercial and specialty lines, launched in July 2023. The company’s workforce has grown from an initial team of three, to 23, following Taylor’s appointment. Bridgehaven also manages 10 managing general agents and has written £300 million in binder premium to date.
Earlier this year, the company also appointed Doug Humberstone as its new head of claims. He joined the firm with over four decades of experience in senior claims roles, including leadership positions at Hiscox, Capita, the Lloyd’s Market Association (LMA), and QBE.
Apollo Syndicate Management Limited has announced the appointment of Rob Littlemore as an independent non-executive director of the Apollo Syndicate Management Limited board.
Littlemore brings over 35 years of experience in the re/insurance sector, having held senior leadership positions including chief executive of XL Catlin Reinsurance London and head of Catlin’s London Reinsurance Group. His career has also included roles at Chaucer and Faraday.
Littlemore currently serves as a non-executive director of the Lockton Re International LLP board and as chairman of Lockton Re’s Audit, Risk and Compliance Committee. Apollo said that his appointment is subject to regulatory approval.
Earlier this month, the company appointed Ciara Sheikh as interim executive underwriter for cargo. In addition to her role as hull underwriter, Sheikh will also be responsible for leading the company’s cargo team.
