Beazley and M&G have announced key leadership appointments as both firms seek to expand their market presence in Europe and the UK.

Beazley has appointed Sara Foucher as head of commercial property, Europe, with immediate effect. Based in Paris, Foucher will lead the development of Beazley’s commercial property offering and expand the team across the region.

She will report to Richard Montminy, group head of property risks.

Foucher has 30 years of industry experience and joins Beazley from Generali, where she was head of underwriting GC&C, France. She has also held senior roles, including property underwriting director for France and Belgium at RSA and head of property, France, at Swiss Re Corporate Solutions.

The cyber specialist’s last major appointment came in December, when Beazley brought in Alessandro Lezzi as group head of cyber risks. Lezzi has served as Beazley’s head of international cyber for over a decade, where he was instrumental in driving the growth of the company’s international cyber portfolio.

M&G director of distribution

Meanwhile, M&G’s life insurance division has appointed Chris Hudson as director of distribution. He will oversee the firm’s UK distribution strategy, focusing on the intermediated market, and lead the team responsible for the company’s individual life and pensions products.

Hudson, who will join M&G on March 10, previously served as managing director – retail & intermediary at Standard Life UK (part of Phoenix Group), where he was responsible for propositions, marketing, and distribution for its retirement business. He has held senior sales and distribution roles at LV=, Aviva, Friends Life, and Aegon.

His appointment follows the departure of Rob Hickson, managing director of UK distribution, who is leaving M&G after 32 years. Hickson played a role in the launch and expansion of the £62 billion PruFund range, which has gained 450,000 individual policyholders over the past two decades, largely through intermediary distribution relationships.

Hudson will report to Anusha Mittal, managing director – individual life and pensions, as M&G seeks to strengthen its distribution capabilities.
