Marine managing general agent Amphitrite Underwriting and insurance add-ons and claims solutions provider Alps Ltd have announced the addition of new colleagues.
Amphitrite brought in Fadi Faysal (pictured left) as cargo underwriter who will work closely with cargo head Scott Sykes. He has more than one and a half decades of international experience across cargo insurance broking and underwriting.
“We are thrilled to have Fadi on board,” Sykes commented. “His distinctive dual business perspective – rooted in a deep understanding of both client requirements and insurer priorities – allows him to expertly navigate the complexities of the cargo insurance landscape.
“With Fadi’s extensive expertise, we are confident that his contributions will play a pivotal role in driving the growth and success of our newly created cargo division while elevating the level and depth of service we provide to our clients.”
The appointment comes on the heels of Amphitrite’s recent status as an approved Lloyd’s coverholder.
Amphitrite chief executive Konstantinos Tampakakis noted: “Amphitrite is continuing its upward trajectory, consistently delivering in expanding its specialist global marine offering. The expansion of our cargo division stands as a clear testament to this momentum.
“We are excited to welcome Fadi to the team, confident that his expertise will be instrumental in amplifying our market footprint. I’m looking forward to seeing him play a key role in our future success as we continue to lead and redefine the niche marine insurance space.”
In a separate development, Alps introduced Laura Mountford (pictured right) as its head of sales and marketing within the firm’s business development team, as the company looks to drive further growth and strengthen its relationships with broker partners.
Mountford joined Alps from a motor insurance broker where she led a sales team. Having transitioned from the NHS in 2018, she has rapidly advanced in her career, earning her Cert CII designation along the way.
In her new position, Mountford will oversee the execution of growth strategies while ensuring exceptional broker experiences.
Alps chair Julian Tomlinson said: “It’s fantastic to welcome Laura to the team. She is a true rising star of the industry, passionate about fostering close relationships with brokers, identifying new opportunities for growth, and building brand presence. She’s hit the ground running and will play a pivotal role in our future success.”
Mountford, whose appointment followed the firm’s 21% growth for the year ended March 2024, added: “Given [Alps’] strong proposition and reputation in the market, I have a great foundation from which to further expand our market presence and deliver excellent support to brokers. Alps was a strong cultural fit for me, with a clear vision for the future.”
