Insurance Europe has elected Alexander Sarrigeorgiou (pictured above), chair and CEO of Eurolife, as its new vice president, serving a term until June 2025.
Sarrigeorgiou is a Greek citizen and has been at the helm of Eurolife for 18 years. Prior to that, he was CEO of Allianz Insurance in Greece. Since 2018, he has chaired the Hellenic Association of Insurance Companies.
“I am delighted to congratulate Alexander on his appointment,” said Insurance Europe president Andreas Brandstetter, CEO and chair of UNIQA Insurance Group. “His significant industry experience will add great value to our advocacy in the years ahead.”
Sarrigeorgiou succeeds Sandro Panizza, who left the role in October.
“I would like to thank Sandro for his significant dedication to and support of our industry during his time as Insurance Europe’s vice president,” Brandstetter said.
“I am honoured to have been elected Insurance Europe’s vice president,” Sarrigeorgiou said. “Our world faces many challenges, and insurers are well placed to support our societies and economies via their roles as protectors and long-term investors. I therefore look forward to working with my colleagues to represent our industry in the legislative discussions that will shape our ability to continue making these important contributions.”
