The board of Insurance Europe has voted to terminate the membership of the All-Russian Insurance Federation in response to Russia’s invasion of Ukraine.
“We express our complete solidarity with the Ukrainian people who are showing incredible strength and bravery during these most challenging of times,” stated Insurance Europe, which “wholeheartedly condemns” the Russian government’s military actions.
“A priority for insurance companies with activities in Ukraine is to take steps to ensure the safety of their employees.”
According to Insurance Europe, many of its members are taking solidarity initiatives in aid of Ukrainian people and refugees. The federation has also responded to the Ukrainian insurance industry, representatives from which contacted Insurance Europe to outline ways of offering assistance.
In her letter – addressed to the Insurance Business Association, League of Insurance Organisations of Ukraine, Kharkiv Union of Insurers, National Association of Insurers of Ukraine, and Federation of Insurance Intermediaries of Ukraine – Insurance Europe director general Michaela Koller said the trade body wishes to provide any support it can.
