The Insurance Cultural Awareness Network (iCAN) has talked the talk – raising awareness and creating noise in 2019 – and now, for its ‘year of action’, will be walking the walk.
“We promised to create impact and we believe that over the course of last year, we have done so,” stated iCAN co-chair and Brokerbility partnerships director Ajay Mistry (pictured). “Now, it’s about taking that awareness to action wider change, and INspire is one of the ways which we intend to do that as part of our year of action.”
INspire is the pioneering industry-wide, self-service mentoring initiative launched by iCAN in collaboration with PwC UK and the Independent Women in Insurance Network (iWIN) for BAME, multicultural, and international colleagues across the insurance industry. It now has 50 mentees.
“Along with INspire, iCAN will also be creating other opportunities for members, such as breakfast and lunch sessions to give exclusive access to some of the industry’s top senior executives,” added Mistry.
Currently iCAN has more than 900 members.
“Our network is nothing without our members,” said iCAN co-chair and DWF senior associate Kishan Mangat. “Their support has helped us achieve what we have last year and this year, and so it is about giving back to our members and turning our own rhetoric into action.
“After our annual survey, we saw clear demand from our members to expand our events outside London. Our members asked; we listened: iCAN will be hosting its very first event outside of London this year, to better serve our growing membership across the UK.”
