Insurance Business reveals the UK’s top insurance brokerages for 2023

Insurance Business UK (IBUK) has revealed the best insurance brokerages across the UK for 2023.

IBUK identified this year’s 5-Star Brokerages by seeking nominations. Each brokerage had to provide key details of its business in 2021 and 2022, including revenue, policies written, number of clients, and profit margin. Brokerages were also required to have three or more brokers and be headquartered in the UK.

IBUK ranked each brokerage according to five criteria:

• revenue;
• revenue growth;
• policies written growth;
• client growth; and
• number of new clients.

IBUK then ranked the brokerages according to each of the above criteria, with all the rankings added together. Akin to a golf score, the lowest overall score indicated the highest rankings. The ranking system rewarded brokerages based on business per broker rather than critical mass to ensure that the best brokerages were singled out regardless of size.
