International insurance broker Howden has appointed Federico Casini as chief executive for Italy.
“As we continue to expand our international footprint, we’re delighted to welcome Federico to oversee the growth and success of our Italian operations,” said Howden Europe CEO Luigi Sturani in the group’s announcement.
“Bringing over three decades of experience within the Italian market, Federico has unrivalled knowledge of the insurance landscape and is the perfect leader to enable Howden to achieve its ambitions in the Italian market and bringing choice to clients and talent in this key European market.”
According to Howden’s Press release, Casini spent 17 years at Aon SpA prior to making the switch. He was in charge of Aon’s Italian operations in his capacity as executive chair. Now, at Howden Italy, Casini will lead the country’s third largest broker.
“Howden Italy has quickly grown to become one of the most reputable firms in the Italian broking market, combining local presence and expertise, with the group’s global outlook and network,” noted Casini, whose credentials include stints at Poseidon Insurance Brokers and Sanpaolo Imi Insurance Broker.
“Being appointed to the helm of Howden Italy is a great honour, and I’m excited to take Howden Italy’s growth to the next phase, strengthening our centres of expertise across Italy and adding further specialisms to our offering.”
Set up in 2021, Howden Italy is currently manned by more than 800 people. The business recently acquired TV and film insurance broker Assimovie.
“The success of our European operations to date highlights that the market is crying out for European-focussed alternatives,” added Howden Broking Group chief executive Jose Manuel Gonzalez.
“Specialist knowledge, relationships, and insurance expertise continues to drive our growth across the continent. Attracting the best talent in Europe is therefore central to our growth strategy and ambition to become the broker of choice.”
