In a strategic move to bolster its presence in the Irish insurance sector, Howden has taken over Intersure Group Limited for an undisclosed sum.
A Drogheda-based insurance firm founded in 1999 by Noeleen Butterly, Intersure specialises in commercial, business, construction, liability, and personal insurance.
“Intersure Group is very excited to become part of Howden, a global leader in insurance broking,” Intersure managing director Noeleen Butterly said. “This is a big step towards offering better services and solutions to our clients and employees. Howden’s global expertise and resources will greatly enhance our ability to provide innovative solutions tailored to our client’s needs.”
Butterly went on to assure clients that the transition will be smooth, promising “no disruption in service, just more options and better support” moving forward.
Howden Ireland chief executive Robert Kennedy, meanwhile, commented: “I’m thrilled to welcome Noeleen and her team to Howden. This acquisition means that we are continuing on our path to become the local broker of choice across Ireland, ensuring great service for both commercial and personal lines clients.”
The CEO emphasized the importance of the swoop in extending Howden’s services to the North-East of Ireland, marking the company’s first physical presence in Co. Louth. Kennedy said his camp looks forward to bringing Howden’s suite of offerings to clients in the region.
