The specialist global insurer Hiscox has today announced that, subject to regulatory approval, Jon Dye (pictured) will take on the role of leading Hiscox UK as CEO, effective September 2022.

In a Press release, Hiscox said that in his new position, Dye will be responsible for heading up Hiscox’s flagship retail business in the UK. It noted that this is a business with a track record of profitable growth, driven by long-standing broker relationships, a strong brand and investment in digital distribution and algorithmic underwriting.

As CEO, Dye will look to continue to build on these strengths and to bring in new capabilities to help drive the business to achieve greater scale. He is a familiar name in the UK insurance industry having held several senior roles, most recently as CEO of Allianz UK for eight years – leading businesses with a collective nine million customers. Dye also served as chair of the ABI between 2019 and 2021, and in his time there helped drive industry collaboration on issues including the industry’s response to the pandemic, the FCA fair pricing review and climate change.

Commenting on the appointment, group CEO Aki Hussain said: “Jon is a recognised industry leader with solid CEO experience and a fantastic track record of building sustainable, profitable businesses. I very much look forward to working with him as part of our group executive team, as we look to realise the vast opportunities ahead. I would also like to thank Stéphane Flaquet, our chief transformation officer, for caretaking the role so diligently in the interim.”

Dye also commented on the news and said he is looking forward to bringing his energy and experience to Hiscox UK which is a “great business with a well-established brand”. He added that he had admired Hiscox for many years and relished the opportunity to contribute to its next chapter.
