Sutcliffe succeeds Jon Bartlett, who retired at the close of last year. Antonia Osborne, the director of underwriting for UK & Ireland, will be overseeing her role.
With over two decades of underwriting experience, Sutcliffe joins HDI from Sompo International, where she served as the head of UK retail property in London. Her previous positions include roles at Swiss Re and AIG, and she is recognised as a subject matter expert on commercial property underwriting for the CII.
In her new capacity, Sutcliffe will drive HDI's property business, concentrating on crafting propositions that cater to the varied requirements of the firm's property clients, including UK and Ireland corporations with multinational operations benefiting from HDI's prominent International Programmes proposition.
Sutcliffe's appointment aligns with HDI's ambitious performance objectives, underscoring the company's dedication to collaborating with clients during periods of transformation.
Commenting on the appointment, Osborne welcomed Sutcliffe to HDI as its new director of property for UK & Ireland.
“Kate brings a wealth of expertise to our business, and I am confident she will play a significant role at HDI as we drive towards our growth and profitability targets while supporting clients with expert advice and specialist propositions,” she said. “I also want to thank Jon for his hard work and dedication throughout his years at HDI and wish him all the very best in his retirement.”
Early this year, HDI Global Specialty appointed a new general manager for aviation of its Scandinavian branch.
