It’s the turn of QIC Europe to fall under the COVID-19 business interruption (BI) spotlight, with the formation of QIC Action Group – a volunteer-led organisation for businesses whose coronavirus-related BI insurance claims have been denied by the insurer and its agent Eaton Gate MGU.
“Our Eaton Gate combined commercial policy (BI cover underwritten by QIC Europe) clearly says we should be covered for any occurrence of a notifiable disease within a radius of 25 miles of the premises,” stated Cliff Nicholls, managing director of UK trampoline park Jump Xtreme.
“We are leading a campaign to make insurers honour a clear contractual obligation and have set up the QIC Action Group.”

In a LinkedIn update, Nicholls called the claims denial an “injustice” that the group is keen to fight and wants others to be aware of.
According to the policy wording seen by Insurance Business, the infectious or contagious disease clause exclusions are Acquired Immune Deficiency Syndrome (AIDS) and AIDS-related conditions.
