The County Group Ltd, which is owned by Global Risk Partners (GRP), is on a roll.
Announcing its third acquisition for the year, County said it has received regulatory approval for its Douglas Insurance Brokers Ltd swoop. This follows earlier deals to snap up Rahon Insurance and a majority stake in Guardian Insurance Brokers.
“I am delighted that yet another fantastic business has chosen to join our family,” commented County founder and chief executive Dave Clapp. “Thanks to the backing and support of GRP, we have a winning formula for vendors and long may it continue.”
Founded in 2003, County opened an office in Cardiff three years ago. Clapp, who described the Welsh capital as having done “phenomenally well,” sees “this venture into Swansea as a natural extension” of the insurance broker’s current footprint which will allow it to cater to even more customers.
“After starting discussions with Dave earlier in the year and visiting the County HQ in Crewe, I was convinced they are the right fit for our business,” noted managing director Ian Douglas, whose family-owned enterprise specialises in commercial risks. “I now look forward to working with the whole team over the coming years to build out our presence in Wales.”
Meanwhile GRP’s broking CEO Mike Bruce said their investment into County “is paying off with a surge in top and bottom line growth,” given its strong pipeline.
“This latest move takes them another step toward their aim of doubling in size within five years,” added Bruce. “I warmly welcome Ian and his team to GRP and look forward to a fruitful and successful future with them.”
