Gallagher has named Mike Parry (pictured) as a partner in its renewable energy team to focus on offshore wind risks.
In his new role, Parry is responsible for delivering risk transfer solutions for clients as the offshore wind sector evolves, both in terms of new technology deployment and risk financing maturity. He will join executive partner Gavin Tidman and renewables expert Duncan Gordon in the team.
According to Jonathan Smith, managing partner of the practice, the addition of Parry is the first of many appointments in the near future as the renewable energy team expands its reach.
“Renewables is an extremely fast-growing area of energy and Gallagher has one of the largest and most experienced teams in the market,” he said. “The appointment of Mike reinforces our strategy of investing in industry-leading individuals and providing further strength in our team as we welcome new renewable energy clients.”
“The growth of renewables is absolutely critical to the energy industry, particularly in the offshore environment,” Parry said. “This means that the insurable risks are ever changing for firms operating in this environment and so we must grow and evolve to support them.”
“Now, more than ever, organisations require realistic and tailor-made approaches to risk management, finance and transfer, so therefore they need to work with committed specialists who can support them to navigate the risk-taking landscape,” Parry added. “I’m delighted to have joined a business with a talented, energetic team of experienced people, with strong client relationships and an extensive and dynamic global footprint. I look forward to working with my team to serve clients of all types to explore further opportunities for their growth and success.”
