The Fortegra Group, a global specialty insurer, has received approval to operate in Belgium and the European Union.

The new entity, Fortegra Belgium Insurance Company, will be headquartered in Brussels and will focus on underwriting specialty lines. Meanwhile, the existing Malta-based Fortegra Europe Insurance Company will continue its specialisation in warranty products.

According to the Tiptree subsidiary, establishing operations in Belgium grants Fortegra access to strategic distribution networks within an evolving European market.

The company plans to collaborate with European managing general agents who are experts in specific products and sectors, offering them flexible deal structures, transparent partnerships, and shared risk.

Rick Kahlbaugh, president and chief executive of Fortegra, commented on the expansion: “The MGA space across Europe is vibrant and compelling and provides a tremendous growth opportunity. We are thrilled to receive this license, which will allow us to provide innovative solutions to partners across Europe.”

Fortegra provides a wide range of specialty insurance products through its subsidiaries, covering property, casualty, financial lines, and warranty and consumer products.
