Financial & Legal Insurance (FLI) has named Jonathan Daniels (pictured) as its new commercial director, effective June 13 onwards.
Daniels will report to Karen Beales, managing director at FLI. He will also assume the same role for claims management firm MSL and ATE broker Magnus – the other companies that make up the Cheshire-based Drive Further Collective alongside FLI.
“We have altered our strategy by broadening our portfolio out of ATE (after the event) legal expenses insurance into BTE (before the event), as well as launching a number of motor ancillary products for distribution through MGAs and brokers,” Beales said. “Jon’s role will give us the opportunity to improve our cross selling across the various parts of the insurance value chain, as we are keen to leverage the skills and capabilities of the group.”
Daniels has a wealth of experience in business development derived from his former roles in General Accident, Norwich Union, Tesco Bank and Vantage. He previously worked alongside Beales as commercial director at the personal lines MGA UK General.
Commenting on the new role, Daniels said he is looking forward to working with Beales again, as well as helping to lead the expansion of FLI’s portfolio as it introduces a host of new products.
“I’m excited by FLI’s plans to execute its diversification strategy beyond LEI into GI Products, which is already underway, including other products such as home emergency, home buyers, key and warranty,” Daniels said. “There is a lot of market movement post-pandemic, with new contracts up for grabs as brokers, MGAs and other providers have reflected on their current strategies. I look forward to playing my part in building a successful portfolio for the business.”
