The former boss of The County Group is back – this time as chief executive of Ataraxia Broking Limited and the MVP (Minority Venture Partners) Broking Group.
“After a year out of the general insurance industry following the successful integration of County into Global Risk Partners, I am delighted to announce I have joined the Ataraxia / MVP Broking Group as CEO,” wrote Dave Clapp on LinkedIn.
“I am really excited by the opportunity to work directly for [MVP chair] Peter [Cullum] and look forward to meeting the teams at Ataraxia and Minority Venture Partners. We have a compelling model to offer brokers (I know this better than most as someone who signed up to MVP back in 2014).”
Clapp was with County for nearly 17 years until April 2020. Before then, he spent a decade at Swinton.
The industry stalwart added: “I am delighted that James McCaffrey is only taking partial retirement and will be supporting the business as a [non-executive director]. This will allow me to tap into his infinite wisdom.
“James has done a sterling job the last seven years and has helped many businesses realise their ambitions. There is no doubt he will be a tough act to follow, but I am up for the challenge.”
According to Clapp, they will be looking to tie up with like-minded individuals who are seeking a strategic partnership. Set up in 2014, MVP provides funding for UK insurance brokers who wish to release some capital while staying in control of their business.
“We currently have 35 investments and circa £150 million of gross written premium within the group,” noted the new chief executive.
