Ed has appointed Mike Hernandez as
Ed Broking LatAm Chairman while Agustin de Freitas replaces him as CEO.
Hernandez, who takes on the newly created role of chairman at Ed Broking LatAm, will oversee Ed’s plans to expand its presence by developing partnerships with local experts. He brings with him almost 30 years of experience in the Latin American insurance market.
Meanwhile, de Freitas has more than two decades of reinsurance experience in the Latin American and Caribbean regions. He joined the global wholesale insurance and reinsurance broker in 2014 from Redbridge where he served as head of business development.
The new Ed Broking LatAm CEO has also enjoyed a decade of regional roles for
Gallagher Re and International Reinsurance Managers. De Freitas began his insurance career in 1994 as a P&C broker with Uruguay-based De Freitas Insurance Brokers.
Ed CEO Steve Hearn said Latin America is a dynamic region with a growing demand for products which genuinely reflect local requirements.
“We will not compete with domestic brokers, but will partner with those intermediaries who share our aspirations for this region and provide access to global capital and international expertise,” he explained.
