Insurers continue to step up to the plate amid the coronavirus pandemic – and now one has made a pledge to be a force for good during the crisis.
Ecclesiastical has signed the C-19 Business Pledge, joining more than 250 firms globally that are committing to tackling the impact of the pandemic. The pledge, which was launched by former Cabinet Minister Rt Hon Justine Greening and entrepreneur David Harrison sees the signees work in conjunction with UK businesses to help them tackle the coronavirus for their employees, customers and their communities.
The charity-owned insurer has already introduced a number of measures of its own – these include extending contents cover to employees working from home and ensuring there are no changes to premium and policy covers for premises that have to temporarily close their doors. It has also extended cover for 30 days beyond renewal, automatically, to help brokers as they try to ensure their clients don’t become unintentionally uninsured.
In addition, the company has aimed a host of support measures at UK communities. The group will donate £1.5 million to support charities and communities, including a sizeable donation to the National Emergencies Trust.
“As a business with a purpose to give all available profits to good causes, we wholeheartedly support the aims of the C-19 Business Pledge initiative in galvanising the business community to do the right thing at this challenging time,” said CEO Mark Hews. “It is vital that we support our customers, communities and employees so that we can come through this together.”
