How long does the average person spend in one job? According to official statistics, the average stands at 4.4 years – yet two insurance professionals are certainly bucking that trend.
Jane Gilbert and Carolyn Rice have this month marked 60 years between them with Sutcliffe & Co, the Worcestershire-based independent insurance brokers.
Gilbert is responsible for the company’s accounts and commented that while she is hesitant to admit it being 30 years, she has stuck around because she considers the business to be “friendly and hard-working.”
Meanwhile, Rice, who looks after a range of Sutcliffe & Co clients, believes that the changing nature of the insurance industry has kept her keen.
“Although the insurance industry has changed significantly since I first started, working with Sutcliffe& Co, adapting to these changes, and helping businesses across the Three Counties means there is never a dull day and the time has flown by,” she said.
The company’s director Duncan Sutcliffe, meanwhile, described working with the duo as an honour.
“It is rare in this day and age to have one, let alone two, members of staff celebrating their 30
th work anniversary and we are honoured both Jane and Carolyn like being members of the Sutcliffe & Co team so much that they haven’t wanted to leave,” he said.
“Both Jane’s and Carolyn’s experience and knowledge is invaluable and we look forward to celebrating many more work anniversaries.”
