KGM, a specialist motor managing general agent (MGA) under DUAL UK, has named Ciaran Astin as its new managing director.
Astin joins KGM with over a decade of experience in leadership and business development roles within the motor insurance sector. He has held key positions at Hastings Group and Direct Line Group, according to his LinkedIn page.
In his most recent role, Astin served as managing director of DriveScore, an app-driven motor insurance data company within ClearScore group.
DUAL UK CEO Simon McGinn commented on Astin’s appointment and said his background in technology, data, and AI will be beneficial to KGM’s continued growth.
“We are delighted to welcome Ciaran on board as managing director of KGM,” said McGinn. “KGM is a recognised leader in specialist motor insurance with a history going back over 65 years. Ciaran joins a business already delivering above sector growth, and I am confident his leadership will see this success continue.
“Ciaran’s career has included a strong focus on tech, data and AI which are very naturally key areas of focus for KGM, and looking ahead, we’ll be further investing people and technology to support our growth.”
Astin also shared his enthusiasm about joining KGM, stating that he is eager to “[explore] new growth opportunities” with the rest of its leadership team.
“I am excited to be joining such a successful and established business as KGM,” Astin said.
KGM became part of DUAL UK in 2021. DUAL is the specialist underwriting arm of Howden Group. It has operations in 21 countries and manages over $3.5 billion in gross written premiums.
Last month, DUAL UK announced two additions to its C-suite roster. Rob Corner will be joining the company as chief distribution officer in May. Meanwhile, Catherine Dixon will join as chief underwriting officer in June.
