Direct Line Insurance Group Plc (Direct Line Group or DLG) has brought in David Neave as an independent non-executive director.
“I’m excited to be joining Direct Line Group, which has some of the most recognised and trusted brands in the market, as it continues to strengthen its personal lines insurance businesses and deliver good outcomes for its customers,” Neave, whose appointment took effect on October 19, said in DLG’s board change announcement.
Neave’s arrival coincided with the shareholder vote that gave the go-ahead to the company’s sale of its brokered commercial insurance business lines to RSA Insurance Group.
DLG chair Danuta Gray commented: “I am delighted to be welcoming David Neave to DLG’s board. David will add value by contributing his deep understanding of general insurance to the board’s oversight of the group’s core businesses.”
The new independent NED’s credentials span chairmanships, non-executive directorships, and advisory roles in insurance, insurtech, consultancy, and legal businesses such as Slater and Gordon UK, The Solicitors Indemnity Fund, Liverpool Victoria Friendly Society, and Accenture UK.
Chair of the advisory board of The Common Automotive Platform Standard and an RSA alumnus, Neave previously served as general insurance chief executive for Co-Operative Insurance.
