Whenever possible, it’s always great to reward hard-working employees with promotions – and that is exactly what Cornish Mutual has been able to do with its new finance director.
Clare Green (pictured) will take the role, having been with the rural insurer since 2011. She moves into the position previously held by Peter Beaumont, who has also moved up the ladder by becoming managing director.
As a qualified accountant, Green has held a host of positions within the finance and claims teams at the firm – indeed she has been the company’s financial controller since 2016. She also has an extensive background, including at a forensic accounting and financial investigations company.
With Cornish Mutual focusing on insuring rural and farm businesses across Devon, Somerset, Dorset and Cornwall, Green can also claim to have some “hands on” experience. She relocated to Cornwall when her husband returned to run the family beef farm near Stithians.
“I am absolutely delighted to have been made finance director,” she said. “Holding a variety of roles here over the last nine years has given me an understanding of how the whole company operates. We have a brilliant team and a fantastic culture, all of which helps Cornish Mutual punch above its weight and makes it a really great place to work.
“This is an exciting time for me to be stepping into this position, as Cornish Mutual develops its strategy for the future.
“These are uncertain and challenging times for the farming community. My focus in my new role is to help Cornish Mutual continue to do what it has always done so well – providing the very best service to farms and rural businesses across the South West.”
Meanwhile, Beaumont also celebrated the promotion noting that Green had already made a “significant contribution” to the firm’s success.
“In recent months, she has taken on additional responsibility in our finance team, including representing the department at board level. This appointment reflects her abilities and commitment.
“Clare brings a variety of skills to the role beyond the numbers and I know she will continue to make a difference to many aspects of the company. I wish her every success in her new role.”
