The Chartered Insurance Institute (CII) is in search of the next 40 rising stars in the industry to join its year-long talent programme, the New Generation Group.
The 2022-23 class will be split into four groups: claims, underwriting, broking and the London market. Each group is asked to work together on a project they believe could make a difference to the insurance profession and present it to the CII’s board.
In between the projects are a wide range of learning opportunities, including the chance to network with other upcoming professionals, meet with regulatory personnel, engage with parliament members and learn about leadership.
Jonathan Clark, interim chief executive officer of the CII, said the flagship programme allows employers to let their rising stars know their contributions are being recognised, which is especially important amid today’s Great Resignation.
“The CII’s New Generation programme always attracts the most impressive individuals in the profession who are capable of shaping the future of the way we all work,” Clark said. “By bringing together these talented individuals, we will help them to develop the knowledge, skills, behaviours and networks they need to thrive with their chosen careers…This programme [also] allows them to network with other rising stars in the profession in a way that is truly collaborative and achieves results that change the way insurance works.”
To join the New Generation Group, applicants are asked to send in their CVs and compose a few lines about why they consider themselves rising stars in the profession. They will also need to confirm that they have their line manager’s approval to participate in the group’s activities.
According to the CII, the typical applicant is likely to hold a minimum qualification of Dip CII level and have at least five years of experience within the general insurance profession. Rising stars should also be members of the CII.
