The Chartered Insurance Institute (CII) has announced that seven insurance and financial planning firms achieved Chartered status in September and October.

This designation is recognised as a symbol of technical competence and a commitment to professional standards in the industry. According to the CII, Chartered status requires firms to adhere to the Chartered Ethos, which encompasses nurturing knowledge, prioritising client needs, and serving society.

Ian Callaghan (pictured above), president of the CII, stated that the institute is pleased to welcome these firms to the Chartered community, highlighting that each has “made a public declaration to professional standards” by committing to the Chartered Ethos.

“Corporate Chartered status is a key component in building public trust and a true mark of professionalism. We look forward to working alongside these firms to deliver good customer outcomes and best practice,” he said.

The firms attaining Chartered status over the two-month period are: Augustine Limited, Avoca Wealth Management Ltd, Better Financial Planning, Park Insurance Ltd, Sedulo Wealth Management, SGM Financial Management Ltd, and Suttons Independent Financial Advisors Ltd.

These firms span a range of specialisms, including financial services, tax planning, investment advice, and insurance brokerage, serving clients across the UK.

Corporate Chartered status requires firms to publicly declare their adherence to the standards set by the CII, with commitments made openly to demonstrate transparency. This ethos is outlined in a series of obligations that firms and the CII have mutually agreed upon, aiming to foster public trust and uphold the integrity associated with Chartered status in the insurance and financial planning sectors.

Last month, the CII and the Personal Finance Society (PFS) reported that more than 3,800 young people have taken part in their virtual work experience programme during its first year.

The initiative, which launched in October 2023 in collaboration with Springpod, aims to introduce young people across the UK to careers in insurance and personal finance.

So far, nearly 1,400 students have participated in the insurance-focused segment of the programme, while the personal finance component has attracted over 2,400 students.
