The Chartered Insurance Institute (CII) has announced the appointment of two new executive directors.

Adam Harper (pictured left) will assume the role of executive director of strategy, advocacy and professional standards, while Holly Porter (pictured right) will take on the role of executive director of markets and opportunities.

Both appointments will take effect in early March.

Harper joins the CII from the Association of Accounting Technicians (AAT), where he serves as director of professional standards and policy. In this role, he has overseen the development and regulation of professional standards, contributing to AAT’s strategic vision and business planning. As a member of AAT’s executive leadership team, he has played a role in shaping corporate strategies and policies.

Porter joins from BCS, the Chartered Institute for IT, where she is managing director of the professional membership community and registrations portfolio.

Previously serving as membership director, she has worked with organisations, members and a volunteer network consisting of more than 100 regional and special interest groups. Her focus has been on supporting professional development and engaging with the technology sector.

“Adam and Holly bring extensive skills and perspectives that will help us meet our strategic ambitions and drive our public value mission forward,” CII chief executive Matthew Hill commented. “Their leadership will play a crucial role in shaping the future of the CII Group, strengthening our ability to deliver for CII and PFS members alike.”

The association said the appointments align with the CII’s ongoing efforts to enhance its strategic direction, regulatory framework and engagement with professional communities.

In other news, CII reported a 15% annual increase in the number of completed insurance qualifications in 2024, with the most frequently completed qualification being Level 3 Certificate in Insurance at 3,990 completions.
