Chubb’s head of financial lines for UK and Ireland Grant Cairns is assuming the newly created position of private equity practice leader overseas general (COG) effective immediately.

In his new role, London-based Cairns will be responsible for leading and coordinating the delivery of Chubb’s insurance products and services across all regions outside North America in response to private equity-related transactions. In addition, he will transfer to Australia in January 2018 to re-assume the position of financial lines manager for Australia and New Zealand.

Cairns previously held the A&NZ role prior to his move to the UK more than four years ago. Before becoming head of financial lines for UK and Ireland in 2016, he was regional manager for financial lines in Continental Europe from August 2013.

“I am delighted that Grant has taken this role,” said Tim O’Donnell, COO, commercial P&C, COG, referring to the private equity post. “Chubb’s private equity practice provides specialised insurance solutions for private equity firms and their portfolio companies, bringing greater underwriting expertise and product capabilities to a broad range of companies.”

For Seth Gillston, EVP, M&A and private equity practice leader, Cairns is a highly respected figure within the insurance industry who will aid the further development of this key segment of Chubb’s business portfolio.

O’Donnell added: “Grant’s broad experience and understanding of Chubb’s global network and capabilities as well as financial lines expertise means he brings with him deep and unrivalled knowledge together with outstanding leadership skills.”
