Currently serving as marine head and deputy chief underwriting officer for Chubb Global Markets, Kirk will assume executive management responsibilities for the division when his promotion becomes effective following regulatory approval. He is expected to move up in July.
As Chubb Global Markets division president, Kirk will report to David Furby, senior vice president of Chubb Group and regional president for Chubb Europe, Middle East, and Africa. Kirk’s appointment comes as Furby steps down from his role as division president of Chubb Global Markets.
“David brings significant experience in the London wholesale market,” Furby noted. “His underwriting experience and deep knowledge of Chubb Global Markets ideally position him to lead the continued development of our London Market wholesale business.”
A chartered insurer and a fellow of the Chartered Insurance Institute, Kirk has nearly two decades of industry experience. He joined Chubb in 2005 and has since held various increasingly senior marine positions for Chubb Global Markets.
In 2022, when Kirk was appointed head of marine, Chubb Global Markets chief underwriting officer Robert Wilson said: “[Kirk’s promotion] reflects the enormous contribution that he has made to CGM and is the culmination of a long-established succession plan for Mark [Edmondson].
“Having been a valuable member of our marine team for more than 16 years, David brings to the role a wealth of insight, understanding, and experience, which will help us pursue continued growth as we innovate and create new solutions for our clients.”
Chubb Global Markets operates through Chubb’s syndicates at Lloyd’s and through Chubb European Group SE, delivering bespoke solutions across the risk spectrum.
