Chubb has named Benoit Chasseguet as country president for its France operations, which, while subject to regulatory approval, is effective immediately. Chasseguet, who has been the company’s regional marine officer for Continental Europe since 2013, will replace the outgoing Veronique Brionne, who has decided to leave the firm.
In this new role, Chasseguet will be responsible for the insurer’s property and casualty, accident and health, and consumer lines operations across the country. He will continue to operate in Paris, reporting to Chubb Continental Europe , Middle East, and North Africa division president Sara Mitchell.
According to Chasseguet’s LinkedIn, he holds a bachelor’s of business administration in international commerce from IDRA France. He also holds several certificates from INSEAD, including finance for executives, global management, achieving outstanding performance, and blue ocean strategy.
Before his tenure at Chubb, Chasseguet spent six years at Achmea as senior manager for non-life businesses. Prior to this, he spent 10 years at EurAPco as senior marine manager, a role which succeeded his eight-year posting at Cigna, where he worked as a marine underwriter.
In a news release, division president Sara Mitchell spoke of the role’s importance, as France is Chubb’s biggest market in Continental Europe as well as serving as the insurer’s European Union headquarters.
“Benoit brings more than 30 years of industry experience as well as a deep knowledge of Chubb. He is highly respected both within Chubb and also the wider industry for his expertise, and I am looking forward to working with Benoit and to see the French business continue to grow,” Mitchell said.
Earlier this year, the insurer also made a key appointment in its London Market business with the hiring of Chris Collins as head of airline for Chubb Global Markets.
