London-headquartered underwriting group Chaucer has moved from 30 Fenchurch Street to 52 Lime Street, making The Scalpel its new base in the UK.
The relocation will see Chaucer occupy levels six, seven, and eight of the skyscraper, with the (re)insurer’s nearly 500 colleagues in London enjoying 44,000 square feet of their new workplace. Outside the UK, Chaucer has offices in Dublin, Copenhagen, Dubai, Singapore, and Miami.
“This is a hugely exciting move for us,” commented Chaucer chief executive John Fowle, whose camp cited The Scalpel’s “excellent” location and strong green credentials as among the reasons for the pick. “Providing our London team and trading partners with a new, modern, and eco-friendly space in which we can work, communicate, and collaborate is key.
“Our people have been incredibly resilient and flexible since the COVID-19 pandemic emerged and, as we return to EC3, our new offices are designed to encourage interaction and provide an environment that flexes to each person and each team’s needs.”
Fowle said establishing Chaucer’s new headquarters marks the beginning of a new chapter for the business, which has ambitious plans to cement its global reputation as a leading (re)insurance specialist.
