Lockyer Insurance (Lockyers) chairman Jon Newall is saying goodbye to the Wakefield-based business after two decades at its helm.
“At the end of the month a chapter in my life ends, and new ones begin,” revealed Newall in a LinkedIn post on Thursday evening.
“After leading Lockyers for the last 20 years, I’m stepping down as chairman and leaving the challenge of the next era in the capable hands of [Lockyers managing director] Martin Weaver-Parker [and] the team at Ethos Broking for the next leg of the journey.”
Newall first served as MD before taking on the role of chief executive in 2018. He assumed the chairmanship May of last year.
The ex-CEO went on to state: “Since taking over Lockyer Insurance in 2000, we’ve grown as a family, been through a rollercoaster of highs and lows (mainly highs), and formed lifelong friendships. I owe a debt of gratitude to everyone at Lockyers (past and present) for helping turn it into more than just an insurance broker.
“I wish everyone at Lockyers, Ethos, our clients, and partners all the best success for the future.”
Newall, a racing aficionado who co-founded fashion sales business Plan B Agency Manchester Ltd in April, added that for now his focus will be on his new ventures.
Lockyers, as of this writing, has not published an official announcement.
