MGA Century Underwriting has expanded its product offering to include liability and environmental impairment liability, the firm announced today.

Century will now underwrite and accept risks including haulage, waste, exports to North America, non-safety critical auto and aeronautical parts, and risks that require a more experienced underwriting approach, the firm said in a release this morning.

Utilising its U.K. “A-rated” capacity, all underwriting will be done by the MGA’s own team – without relying on technology for underwriting decisions.

Century’s focus will be on working with brokers and their insured “to ensure that the best coverage is obtained for a competitive price,” the company explained.

“This is the start of a new journey for Century Underwriting,” Tony Collman, underwriting manager liability, said.

“We are looking to provide the complete solution for our brokers whilst maintaining our hands on approach,” he added.

“Our service offering will continue to be second to none with IT focusing on adding value to our proposition rather than controlling it.”

Last month, the firm said it had bounced back after one of its capacity partners, Markerstudy, took the decision to withdraw its capacity for managing general agents.

Century, which had referred to Gibraltar-based Markerstudy as its main capacity partner, said it had new deals already in place with insurers.
