Donna Scully, owner and director of Carpenters Group, has been named Merseyside Woman of the Year at the 2024 Merseyside Women of the Year Awards.

The awards, held at the Crowne Plaza in Liverpool, celebrated women who make significant contributions to their communities, sectors, and the people they serve – those who work diligently behind the scenes, often without seeking recognition, yet have a profound impact on those around them.

Scully was presented with the overall Woman of the Year award in front of an audience of more than 400 guests. She also received the award for Business Leader. In her acceptance speech, Scully expressed her surprise and gratitude.

“I’m incredibly humbled to be named Merseyside Business Leader & Woman of the Year 2024. There were such amazing women alongside me in the shortlist so it was a real shock to win. As the first Irish woman to receive the award, I’m very proud of that too. I feel like a proper ‘honorary scouser’ now,” she said.

Carpenters Group expressed pride in Scully’s achievements. The company partners with insurers, brokers, and managing general agents to offer a range of fully outsourced claims solutions. Carpenters Group has approximately 1,450 employees across seven offices in Liverpool, Birkenhead, Leeds, Haywards Heath, Manchester, and Glasgow.

Scully also secured a much-deserved victory as one of Insurance Business’s Female Leaders in Insurance for 2024.

Besides her work for the group, Scully actively contributes to the industry in a host of roles.

Beyond her professional commitments, she serves as an ambassador for Fans Supporting Foodbanks, a Football for Change Champion and a mentor for The Girls’ Network and The Insurance Breakfast Club. She is a huge champion of women’s rights, equality and social mobility.
